Approximately fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Officers say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then located many other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police report early analysis show the liquid was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; authorities are presently not aware of any harm in association with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for details.
A high-ranking political figure stated the incident rendered him without words and required to be resolved quickly.
"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he stated on online, mentioning the killing of nine people by a assailant aiming at people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
